Trigger point release

Trigger points are localized areas of muscle tightness which cause pain and irritation, typically referring pain to other parts of the body and occasionally resulting in other troubling symptoms. A trigger point will often cause satellite trigger points to form in other nearby muscles, as well.

Often day-to-day aches and pains can be attributed to trigger points, and fortunately they are rarely dangerous or damaging, though they can often be debilitating. They can be effectively treated with soft tissue mobilization, including specific techniques developed to release these tight points, along with stretching and relaxation techniques.

Once the trigger point is effectively treated, the factors that caused it to form in the first place must be addressed. Tight muscles or weak muscles are predisposed to form trigger points, and often postural or movement and lifestyle habits can predispose you to forming trigger points. They can also form as a result of physical trauma, muscle overload, or emotional stress. I will help treat the trigger points and provide a plan of care to address the factors that caused it to form in the first place.
